About Us

STUDIO HARU is an art studio, apparel & gift shop indie brand based in New York City.

The name Haru ("春") is the Japanese word for Spring; our favorite season. The shop focuses on releasing small-batch collections of apparel, accessories, homeware, and other specialty goods, where every design is brought to life by finding inspiration in music, food, places, and experiences. The art studio is a space for individuals to engage in a collaborative creative process, through art pieces and creative workshops.

With an aim to bring happiness into your life by using bright colors giving you funky, quirky modern-kitch designs.

The shop was founded back in 2019 by artist Grace E.G 袁恩典, and in 2020 she decided to pursue this journey fully.

A big part of our work is done in-house, from designing our products, to packaging design, product production, photography, graphic design, social media, and customer support.

The Artist

Hi, Grace here! A little bit about me?… well, I speak six languages: English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese, and often attempt to include the essence of some or all of these six cultures in my work.

I am an extremely introverted person based in New York City, and when I am not working my day job as a Fashion Designer, and the Editor-in-chief of an independent fashion magazine, you can find me at church Singing and working in the youth department, or at home playing Sims 4, Animal Crossing NH, Mario Car, and Mario Wonders.

The shop mainly operates online but last year [2023] STUDIO HARU started doing in-person markets\pop-ups and since then, we have been able to reach a much wider audience.

In 2023 STUDIO HARU launched a sub-brand called Grumpy Shiba グランピー柴犬 ™. The permanent collection of apparel and accessories found its inspiration in the characteristics of the delightful and mischievous Shiba Inu dog.
